This assemble on painting gives nod to the fine line between proper sustainability practice and the consumerist greed preservation of retro, classical, and sophisticated motifs. The foreground is set with a healthy trio bloom of orchids that dominate the frame. They are healthily overset, or, i mean painted, on top of what looks to be a vintage retro fararri supercar, which is wrapped in an, i'd say, overly ambitious vinyl record snap-on frame assemblage project. It is an elaborate piece but was made during a strong turning point in my practice. A time that i felt a strong conviction to speak with paint, not make paintings. The acknowledgment to a conversation of consumer ideas and, to me, the importance of re-use. Today, so much material matter is produced, just getting added to a cycle of use, death, rebirth. What i have really noticed is the glorification of classic themes, clinging to the idea of sustainability, that have somehow turned into this gross kind of retro toxic waste land. This figure of classic, vintage material, in clothes, architecture, and every accessory known to man, has flooded the drains. It represents somehow these ides of power and everyone jumps the gun for it. It needs to be slowed down, soaked up, and used better.
